In an effort to recognize the outstanding alumni base and the incredible women who make up the sisterhood of 4-H House, the 4-H House Alumni Association has developed the Distinguished Alumni Award. This award is designed to recognize the contributions one woman has made to her community, her profession, her sorority, and/or her university. Winners of this award will be an example and a source of pride for all members of the 4-H House sisterhood.
Guidelines
1. Applications will be posted on www.4hhouse.com and published in the Annual Report regularly.
2. Applications received by May 1st of the given year will be considered for the annual award. Applications will be held and reviewed for consideration a total of three award cycles from time of receipt. (Example: an application received in April of 2009 is eligible for the award in years, 2009, 2010, and 2011. After 2011, a new application would need to be submitted for the eligible candidate if not yet selected as the recipient.)
3. Applications should be reviewed by the board and voted on by August 1st of the given year.
4. The candidate should be selected with a simple majority vote either spoken or via show of hands.
5. The current alumnae board will select the recipient.
6. The candidate will be slected based upon four criteria: service to 4H House, service to the University, service to her profession, and service to her community.
7. Only one award will be given per calendar year.
8. The award will be given to an individual, not a group.
9. Nominations will be accepted from a group of individuals (ex. New member class of 2000)
10. The published application will be the preferred method of nomination of a candidate. However, if a nominator chooses to use another form of narration for the applicant, it will be considered as an application.
11. The award will be presented at the annual association meeting held during Homecoming. During a special celebration year (i.e. 75th anniversary) the award will be presented at the special event.
12. The award winner will receive an individual award of a pearl pendant necklace. In addition, their name will appear on a plaque to be displayed at 4H House.
